Tales of the Sea - Bampton

Mermaids, Monsters and Magic: Folk tales of the Sea

England is a maritime nation. Our folklore and history are scattered with tall tales of the high seas, mysteries of the unknown world beneath the ocean surface and the coast where human life meets the salt sea.

Professional storyteller Lisa Schneidau tells old folk tales and legends with a contemporary twist, using the old craft where stories are passed on and told from memory. In this storytelling you’ll discover pirates and monsters, sailor heroes and ghost ships, mermaids and shapeshifters. Immerse yourself in these sea stories and let yourself be swept away in the current of England’s magical relationship to the mysterious ocean world that surrounds us. “Even if you are not a coastal dweller, you will find magic and wonder in some of England's oldest and strangest tales.”
