Clare Petherick
Over the last couple of years, Clare has been developing site-specific installations and altered books, and has been artist in residence twice at the National Trust’s Cabin, Bucks Mills.
The inspiration for her altered books began when she found a set of Victorian encyclopaedias around the time of her first artist in residence, which resulted in the site-specific exhibition “A Truce with Time”. The books developed further when she collaborated with technologist Jay Kerry, introducing sound and light effects in a project inspired by Bidefords Chope Collection - ‘Ferny Combes’.
Drawing also plays a central role to her practice and she’s been short listed three times for the Jerwood Drawing Prize. Clare was born in North Devon, went to the Royal College of Art and lives in London.
