Amanda McCormack (Mandi) is a photographer and community artist living and working in Devon. With a photographer father and a passion for the outdoors, Mandi spent much of her childhood exploring the countryside with a camera. Combining these first loves she went on to gain a degree in wildlife film making and photography at The University of Derby.
Following ten years of running her own community film making company in north Devon, Mandi was supported by Arts Council England to transition her creative practice to socially engaged photography. Her recent projects include; Grassroots Girls, six months photographing female footballers of a local club, Theatrefest, a series of portraits of local theatre makers and Tarka Line Creatives, a group wellbeing project combining photography and creative writing exploring Devon’s landscapes along the railway.
Mandi delivers photography workshops and walks for wellbeing across Devon and says:
“Photography is a wonderful way to slow the world down and learn to see hidden treasures around us. I love being outside and enabling groups to explore their own communities, gain confidence and have fun. Photography is for everyone. Whatever your age or ability we can work together to make it accessible for you.”
