Boxes of Delight and Scrolls of Wonder - South Molton

Boxes of Delight and Scrolls of Wonder
A visual storytelling performance and art workshop with Sara Hurley & Wendy Dacre. Sara and Wendy specialise in telling stories with pictures, song and spoken word. Sara is a Kamishibai storyteller, a Japanese form using picture cards. Wendy is a Crankie maker and singer, a crankie is a rolling scroll story.
At 2pm Wendy and Sara will perform a spell binding medley of interactive crankie and kamishibai stories and songs. The show is threaded with fascinating information about their history and mechanics.
At 3pm there will be a MAKE A MINI-CRANKIE WORKSHOP. Convert a small box into a mini crankie and create a picture scroll inspired by an animal journey. This intergenerational workshop combines narrative & image making & (optional) performing.
