Belshaw Band Concert - Exeter
The Belshaw Band was formed by Simon Belshaw when he studied at Bath, and continued through his postgraduate study with Gavin Bryars at the University of Hertfordshire. The music has an infectious rhythmic power, and you'll hear influences from Bryars, Nyman, Andriessen, Martland; from Baroque, rock and pop, minimalism and even a touch of jazz.
The Belshaw Band line-up has always been fluid and has ranged in size from an ensemble of five players to one of fourteen. For this performance the band will consist of seven players, most of whom are original members, but will also include local players Roz Harding, Julie Hill and Emma Welton. The line-up will be trumpet, two saxophones, two violins, 'cello and piano.
