Award-winning artist and author Jackie Morris at Barnstaple Library
Jackie Morris is internationally admired for her imaginative and atmospheric picture books, illustrated with watercolours and often with a fantasy dimension. She has over thirty years’ experience writing and illustrating books, and says that from the age of six she knew that she wanted to be an artist because she realised it would never be possible for her to be a bear!
"I watched my dad drawing a picture of a lapwing, making a bird appear on a piece of paper using only a pencil, and I thought it was some magic that made this happen. So there and then I decided to learn how to conjure birds from paper and colour".
